Fandom: Thunderbirds Are Go 2015/ Thunderbirds TOS
Rating: Teen
Summary: The boys can’t fly home for Christmas, so they have to find another way.
Word count: 3495
Spoilers & warnings: language and so, so much fluff. Science!Gordon. Artist!Virgil, Minor various ships, mostly background. A little angst in this one along with a little minor sexual reference.
Timeline: Christmas Season 3, I have also kinda ignored the main storyline of Season 3. The boys needed a break, so I gave them one. Post season 3B, before Season 3C cos I started this fic before we saw it.
Author’s note: For @scattergraph. This is my 2019 TAG Secret Santa fic :D
Wow, written all in one day. I’ve been rereading the fic and running out of it and wanting more. Unfortunately, for there to be more I had to write more. I checked my archive and the last bit went up on May 11 right before everything at work went to hell, so I’m guessing that was the cause of the delay of this bit. I hope it was worth waiting for. This fic is nearly finished. A few threads to tie up in the next chapter, which, depending on what the characters do (cos they’ve thrown me two curve balls in this ::glares at both Grandma and Virgil:: so who knows what else they will do). i hope you enjoy it.
Many thanks to @i-am-chidorixblossom @scribbles97 and @onereyofstarlight for reading through various bits, fielding my many wibblies, and for all their wonderful support.
Disclaimer: Mine? You’ve got to be kidding. Money? Don’t have any, don’t bother.
-o-o-o-
Scott stared as his home crawled over the horizon. Lit from the west, the peaks of Tracy Island were sculpted in gold, the water surrounding her sparkling in the dying sun.
It was a beautiful sight.
Virgil shifted against him, snorting softly in sleep.
Scott had been out on the bow of the boat for hours. First talking to Virgil, working through some of the events of the day until his exhausted brother slowly tipped sideways, falling asleep despite the breeze and the soft toss of the boat.
Scott just wrapped an arm around him and held him while his brother slept.
His butt was numb from lack of circulation, but he didn’t care.
John had approached at one point and quietly handed him a tablet full of information about whales. It was full of data he didn’t understand and he desperately needed to talk to his genius brother about what it all meant.
But for the moment, he was content to listen to Virgil’s breathing, the wind and watch their home inch closer and closer.
He was aware of Gordon keeping an eye on both of them, the pilot adding more speed to the journey today than he had any other day. There had been relaxation, but all of that had disappeared with recent events.
Hell, it had disappeared the moment they had discovered the trapped calf.
Fire ignited in his belly at the thought. He needed to speak with Penelope and follow up on what had happened to those responsible.
His father’s desk lay waiting on the Island.
Relief and dread waited with it.
He closed his eyes and evened out his breathing. It had been such a relief to let go last night. Mel had met his energy with her own, her hands in his hair, a pardon on her lips. No ties, no obligation, just a moment to be himself, find comfort in her arms and let go.
He was ever so grateful. His brothers may laugh, but it was the only way he could truly release everything that built up day after day. Life was a challenge and he was willing to take it on, but everyone needed a moment.
Mel had given him that moment...and a little more.
Virgil shifted against him as Gordon turned the boat slightly and began to slow on approach.
Scott opened his eyes to watch Mateo shift to starboard. The bow dropped a little as their speed lessened, the background noise of the engine changing pitch.
Virgil muttered something and shifted again.
Scott held him that little bit tighter.
A Little Lightning arced around the smaller island that protected their caldera from the open ocean and the yacht entered the sheltered lagoon smoothly.
The petrel colony raised a ruckus and squawked like crazy as they motored past, Gordon cutting their speed to almost nothing as the yacht coasted over coral.
There were two docks on Tracy Island. One on either side of the villa. Gordon chose the one adjacent to Two’s runway for obvious reasons. It was harder to dock such a large vessel, but it would be easier to get Virgil onto land, and, via the hangars, up to the villa. The other dock, near the beach huts, required a hike up to the house that Virgil was in no shape to make. Scott had checked his brother’s incisions earlier in the day and they were well into healing, but...it had been a weird day and Virgil was still asleep.
Gordon nudged the yacht ever so slowly up to the little used dock. It had been designed for supply delivery early on in the venture, but once the runway had been built, it had been used for little other than the occasional Thunderbird Four testing regime and a little recreational boating.
Nothing as big as A Little Lightning.
Gordon had mentioned early on that they would likely use the inflatable when they reached home, but the aquanaut had obviously changed his mind.
Virgil was definitely the reason.
John darted past Scott and Virgil, docking pole in hand, turquoise eyes targeting both of them. He didn’t say anything, but the concerned frown shot at Scott said everything.
Ropes were launched at the wharf bollards and the engine dropped down to a bare rumble. Alan yelled an acknowledgement at the back of the boat and John held up a hand to signal to Gordon. A slight shift sideways and A Little Lightning nudged up against Tracy Island and was secured.
Gordon cut the engine and its absence was profound.
John turned and smiled at him.
They were home.
-o-o-o-
Soft fingers touched his cheek.
“Honey, it’s time to wake up.”
He screwed up his face. He was in that pleasant warm place just below consciousness and he didn’t want to leave it.
But his pillow rumbled just a little with quiet laughter. Cotton moved against his temple and an arm tightened gently around him.
“You’re going to have to be more direct than that, Grandma.”
Those words, said in his brother’s voice, and enough neurons came online to recognise that he was curled up on something hard, leaning against...the warm cotton shifted and a breath was drawn in. A heartbeat pulsed against his ear, slow and sure.
The whirr of a scanner made him frown.
Light flickered under his eyelids and he clenched his eyes shut.
“C’mon, Virgil, we’re home. You can’t sleep out here all night and my butt is going to drop off if it doesn’t get circulation soon.”
Another voice piped up. “And then you’ll have to face Mel for the loss of that perfect butt.”
“What do you know about Scott’s butt?” Higher pitched. Alan?
“Remember number twenty-nine? Or was it twenty-eight? The one that worked in that circus we saved from the flood? She wrote letters about it.”
His pillow shifted sharply. “What the hell, Gordon?”
“Hey, you’re the one who left your email open for all to see.”
“It is encrypted!”
“Only to those who don’t know the encryption code, Scotty.”
“Boys, keep it down. Give Virgil a chance to wake up properly.”
He found his mouth. “Too late.” A groan and he was pushing himself upright. Everything complained.
Everything. His gut, his back, the numb leg that had somehow been denied blood when he leant on it.
Several hands helped him sit up and he found himself blinking against the golden light of sunset.
Sunset?
What the hell?
“How long have I been asleep?”
“Long enough.” His eldest brother was standing up, stretching his limbs and obviously rubbing blood back into his extremities. “You’re heavy.” But the smile Scott sent him was fond and happy. “We’re home, Virg.”
John, Alan and Gordon were arrayed beyond Scott, but as he turned his head, two other presences made themselves known. Grandma was in front of him, scanner in hand, blue eyes frowning at him in concern.
And on the dock, beyond the railing, stood Kayo.
Her frown vanished the moment she realised he was looking at her and was replaced with a small smile. “Welcome home.”
It was addressed to all of them, but she was looking at him when she said it.
“Let’s get you off this boat, young man.”
Yes! He was home. His ‘bird’s runway stretched along the cliff above them and the whole purpose of the boat trip came home to rest in his heart. As he stood, Scott helping him to his feet, he turned to his brothers. “Thank you.” He could claim that his voice was rough from his half drowning a few hours ago. “Thank you for taking me home. You didn’t have to, but you did anyway.” Okay, now he was getting emotional. “Thank you.”
An arm slung about his shoulders. “Anytime, Virgil, anytime.” Scott’s eyes flashed almost green in the evening light.
Alan muttered something and darted past Gordon to wrap his arms around Virgil. “Don’t do that again.”
Virgil blinked. “Not planning on it.” He wasn’t sure whether Alan was referring to his appendix or the whale thing, but whatever. His arm came around his brother and held him tight.
John’s smile was soft, but full of enough to swell Virgil’s heart.
Gordon...
A moment and Virgil untangled himself from Scott and Alan, took those few steps to his fish brother and smothered him in a massive hug. As expected, Gordon squawked and struggled just enough to make his protest shown, but Virgil hung on.
“Thank you, Gordon. Best idea ever.”
Arms encircled his waist, but his brother didn’t answer.
The moment was broken by Grandma placing a gentle hand on his arm. “Virgil, I would like to do a full medscan. John reported that you’ve been rather active today.” Virgil shot a look at his younger brother. John just smiled a little more and shrugged.
It was to be expected. Virgil would have done the same thing under the circumstances.
He sighed and let Gordon go.
Russet brown stared up at him a moment before Gordon stepped aside and gestured Virgil towards the gangplank that connected A Little Lightning to the dock.
Scott materialised on one side and John on the other and he had to force himself not to roll his eyes in exasperation.
Between the two of them, they made sure he stepped securely onto solid ground, ghosted him up the hill to the runway and to one of the little runabouts they used to transport cargo about the Island. It was clear that he was the cargo.
Well, at least it wasn’t a hoverstretcher.
He let out a sigh as Scott drove him into Two’s hangar and his ‘bird loomed over him.
Home.
It was a matter of elevators and examinations after that. Grandma was very thorough. The word ‘pneumonia’ was bandied about as a possibility if he didn’t look after himself properly. Apparently, he had breathed in a little too much seawater.
Fortunately, his incisions were quite happy and well on the mend despite the two dunkings for the day. Grandma didn’t frown at him, but the firm line of her lips was enough to keep him quiet.
You did not mess around with Grandma regarding medical matters.
Hell, when cornering his brothers as a medic himself, often the only threat that kept them corralled was that he would bring in Grandma if they didn’t behave.
When Virgil was ill, there was no-one else. Grandma was always the one who looked after him. She always had.
And, in turn, he now looked after her.
“What happened out there, Virgil?” Her voice was soft. They were alone and his grandmother was putting away her instruments. She had run him through everything, even a brain scan. She was obviously concerned.
“I don’t know, Grandma.”
“John says you spoke to whales.”
He shook his head and let it drop. “I don’t know.”
A finger caught his chin and drew his head up to look into her eyes. “You keep yourself safe, Virgil. You hear me? You have family who need you. Family who love you.”
“I’m okay, Grandma.”
She stared at him a moment longer before letting out a breath and turning back to her instruments. “You’re off rescues for another week, but I suspect you knew that.”
He did, but part of him had hoped he could shorten it. One glance at Grandma and he knew he didn’t have a hope. “Yes, standard recovery period for an operation of this type.”
Blue eyes shot a suspicious glare at him, but he didn’t respond.
“Lots of bed rest. None of your heavy lifting. No gym until next week.”
Damn. “Yes, Grandma.”
She turned back and he was in her arms. “Welcome home, Virgil.”
He blinked and returned the hug. “I’m fine, Grandma.”
Those arms tightened just a fraction.
He frowned. “Grandma?”
She let him go and turned away. “You better go downstairs. Kayo has dinner ready for all of us. It’s Christmas Eve.” She straightened up and looked at him, her eyes saying something he couldn’t quite decipher. “We should celebrate as a family.”
“Okay.”
Her hand landed on his arm and squeezed gently before letting go. He took that as a dismissal, slid off the bed and grabbed his shirt. “Thank you, Grandma.”
She didn’t turn. “I’ll see you down there shortly.”
He frowned, but did as she asked and headed off to the comms room.
-o-o-o-
Scott stared at John and Gordon. “You think he is actually communicating with the whales.”
A pair of copper eyebrows rose. “We think so.”
“But Virgil told me himself that he doesn’t understand it.”
Eos’ voice was deceptively wise. “Commander, he may not understand consciously, but subconsciously.”
“Explain.” Scott glared at the simulacrum of spinning lights on the holoprojector.
“His brain is at least partly processing the information, enough to receive an impression of the content, but not enough to clarify it. He has processed enough to produce a vocalisation that connects with the whales despite the lack of range in his vocal cords. Humans cannot produce the sound required to emulate whale song without electronic enhancement. Virgil’s physical contact appears to have amplified his emissions enough for the whale to recognise his voice as a form of communication.” A graphic appeared on the ‘projector. A small portion was set aside and fit into the larger like a puzzle piece. “The whale was able to clarify his vocalisation into something that could be understood.”
“What did Virgil say?”
John answered him. “We don’t know.”
“We should ask him.” Gordon stood up. “And I think he should be part of this conversation.”
Scott bit back a retort. Every bone in his body wanted to protect Virgil from this.
But he knew he couldn’t.
Sagging, he sat down on the couch behind him and nodded.
Gordon stepped around the ‘projector and perched beside him. “Sam and I will find out more. I promise, Scott. This is a major breakthrough, you know that.”
Scott turned slowly to look at his little brother. “You saw what it did to him.”
“Do you trust me, Scott?” Russet brown bared his little brother’s soul.
He stared into those eyes. Little rapscallion Gordy, the prankster of the family. The ray of sunshine on moments so dark Scott feared his own survival. Did he trust Gordon? Trust him with Virgil’s life?
All the time.
“Yes, I do.”
Gordon swallowed. “Then trust me with this. I’ll keep him safe. I promise. We’ll work this out. Discover what it means. What exactly is going on.”
John cleared his throat. “Perhaps you should both speak to Virgil first?”
Scott turned to find his engineer brother standing by the kitchen stairs, staring at them.
-o-o-o-
“Virgil-“
“No!” His older brother threw his hands up and Gordon took a step back. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
So, of course, Scott took a step forward. “Vir-“
“No, Scott! Not now. Just leave it. I need to work this out for myself. I...I thank you for the information, John, Eos.” He nodded to the ‘projector. “Gordon, I understand the interest and I...empathise.” He sighed. “I just need time, guys, okay?”
“Okay.” It was parched and apparently his voice. The frown creasing Gordon’s forehead was deep enough to hurt. Why wasn’t Virgil letting him help?
His brother reached out and laid a hand on his shoulder. “Just some time, Gords, please.”
“Okay.”
“Then I’ll come to you.” Eyes a deeper brown than his own were pleading for understanding. “I promise.”
“Okay.” Gordon swallowed and cleared his throat. “Well, in that case, I vote we go eat before Alan inhales everything.” It was a simple distraction, but it worked.
Virgil squeezed his shoulder, his expression flashing thanks before turning away. The tension in the man’s back was pulling his shirt tight.
Maybe he was right. Maybe they should wait.
A blink and another swallow and Gordon followed Virgil from the room, Scott and John behind him.
-o-o-o-
The evening was a quiet one. All five brothers were tired after the day’s events, even Virgil who, despite having slept a few hours in the morning and afternoon, still looked like he was going to fall on his face at any moment.
Even Grandma was more reserved than usual, her gaze landing on Virgil repeatedly, her eyes distant as if in thought.
It was unnerving.
Kayo served dinner. A buffet of Asian dishes accompanied by rice and noodles. Most were purchased, but she had also made her own stir fry, a family favourite with just the right amount of chilli and cilantro. An appropriate welcome back feast, but none of them had the energy to truly appreciate it as much as it deserved.
After dinner saw them stocking presents under the massive Christmas tree in the comms room. Alan made various comments, especially when Virgil lugged out what was likely a painting wrapped in several layers of wrapping paper.
The fact he lugged it by himself led to words from Scott and the present being confiscated. Virgil’s protest that it wasn’t heavy was followed up by John stepping between the two of them and declaring he was going to help Virgil with his load. The two of them disappeared upstairs and Gordon was left with a grumpy Scott.
The whole lack of spirit finally cracked the aquanaut and he grabbed some tinsel off the tree, wrapped it into a ball and threw it at Scott’s head.
The astonishment on his big brother’s face was worth it.
Scott carefully placed the painting-shaped present down beside the tree and turned to verbally retaliate only to have his face muffled by a lounge cushion thrown by Alan.
“Bullseye!”
Gordon idly noted Brains taking one look at the resultant expression on Scott’s face and, grabbing Max, making a beeline for the elevator.
“Alan!”
“Yes, Scott?”
Gordon threw another ball of tinsel, silvery strands fluttering in the air as it flew.
“Gordon!”
Another couch cushion whacked Scott in the face.”
“Ala-“
More tinsel to the head.
Hmm, this tree really did have a lot of tinsel on it, but just in case, Gordon darted in and grabbed two of the balls he had already thrown.
He was not surprised when the remaining tinsel ball retaliated and hit him between the eyes.
Alan was landed by a return cushion volley. Scott really was a good shot.
“Oh, you are going down, bro.” Alan was positively gleeful and before they knew it, cushions, tinsel, several Christmas baubles and a pile of tribbles were hurtling back and forth across the room.
Kayo stood to one side and just rolled her eyes. Grandma joined in and was the likely source of the tribbles.
When John and Virgil returned, it was to utter chaos and not a small amount of laughter. Both got tribbles stuffed down their shirts and tinsel bounced off their heads.
John protested loudly at the use of his tribble stash, but Grandma told him to lighten up...right before she bounced one off his nose.
What followed that was a free for all.
The night got better, much to Gordon’s relief. His brothers loosened up, a little alcohol was dragged out and moods mellowed.
Of course, Alan was the first to nod off, curled up beside Gordon. He was fast followed by Virgil who yet again fell asleep on Scott. The worry that appeared on Scott’s face only made Gordon’s heart sink.
Grandma called it then, sending them all off to bed.
Virgil was nudged awake enough for Scott and John to get him on his feet and guide him to his bed. Gordon shouldered Alan and dragged him to the elevator.
“Thans, Gords.”
“Not a problem, bro.” The elevator was taking forever to return.
Alan turned into Gordon’s shoulder and slumped against it, half snoring.
“C’mon, Allie.” The elevator arrived and he helped his little brother aboard. If there was one thing Alan had in common with Virgil it was his ability to sleep.
Some complaints about the boat still rocking and Gordon tumbled his little brother into his bed. Shoes off, covers on. Gordon sat down beside his sleeping brother.
It had been one hell of a trip and now it was over. It was less than a week since Virgil folded in his pilot’s seat, yet it seemed years ago. One boat, four days and five brothers.
Alan rolled over and snorted in his sleep.
Gordon reached out and placed his hand on his arm.
“I’m gonna getcha, John.” It was quiet and mumbled into Alan’s pillow, but it was enough to push Gordon to his feet.
Blimey.
A blink that lasted longer than it should have and Gordon realised he was exhausted. One more glance at his little brother who was now muttering something about space resources and was no doubt plotting his brother’s video game demise, and Gordon made his way to the door.
One boat, four days, five brothers...and tomorrow.
Gordon went to bed.
-o-o-o-
End Day Four.

IT'S SAFE TO START YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE. WHERE WILL YOU GO?
The primary definition of freedom is this: the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement. There's simply no better word in the English language — and there's no better news than what I'm about to share with you! If you haven't already heard, cdc.gov recently stated that those who are fully vaccinated can travel safely within the U.S. and do not need to get tested before leaving the country unless the destination requires it. Further, vaccinated travelers no longer need to self-quarantine after international travel. To celebrate this exciting announcement, I've compiled four incredible international destinations open to U.S. travelers. From Iceland to the Mediterranean to the British West Indies... consider this just a sample of destinations you can explore freely with safety and ease. Where do you want to go? Get in touch and let's make plans! I can't wait to treat you to extraordinary travels with VIP privileges when you're ready to roam free.

CELEBRATE IN SANTORINI
THROW A PRIVATE PARTY AT MYSTIQUE, A LUXURY COLLECTION HOTEL
With its gentle curves and sculpted arches, Cycladic architecture is just as much a part of quintessential Greece daydreaming as turquoise waters and golden sunshine. Bring your Mediterranean visions (and 2020's delayed celebrations!) to life at this island oasis carved into the rugged lower Caldera cliffs. From the restaurants to the spa, every area of the resort offers unobstructed infinity views of the Aegean Sea and the iconic volcano that formed the island of Santorini. ALLEGEDLY ANON, Canada ‘ move to CANADA!!! What’s she going to do, go back to suits as a Parailegal? I don’t think she will go anywhere near the commonwealth. She hates the RF. She’s disliked and despised. She’s at home more in Calipornia , return to the industry she knows best. This trash has alienated herself from everything she married into. Go home stay home. She’s a classless tramp. Allegedly speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON,SS PR writes her word salad, a vacuous, empty, meaningless diatribe that’s supposed to encourage the audience that are in the unfortunate position of having to listen. ALLEGEDLY ANON, hey skippy ‘ is nutmeg on public appearance anytime soon ‘ I’m looking forward to her facing the British MOS readers …… and the fortuitous anticipation of being booed. Unless the pubic are unlikely gracious she’s going to get a hammering. One can only hope , she’s an obnoxious toss-pot who thinks her $h!t don’t stink. Treated the BRF with utter contempt. A return to porn awaits, allegedly, speculation of course. 💩💩💩💩💩

( didn’t someone say she was hiding In Somerset. ) I’m sure there’s a nice soho sponsored hideaway deep in the rural sticks that she’s holed up in. Trouble is , there’s curiosity amongst the well heeled local pop. Allegedly, speculation of course. 👀👀 👀 👀 🕶 🕶 🕶

ALLEGEDLY ANON, a focus group of 52 million British subjects would find that 78% dislike or have negative opinions about the colonial carpetbagger, 20% undecided and 2% don’t give a $h!t. Survey undertaken by the Sisters of Perpetual Retribution found that middle England and the upper classes have obnoxious contempt for the grifting bint while the working class seek the return of a happy go lucky Harry without the whining wife. All concluded that the BRF should get rid!! Speculation Allegedly.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, HMTQ and TBRF have collectively now ostracised the house of Sussex from their social calendar regarding functions and family events , the only contact will probably be official gatherings like Christmas and public appearance such as the Remembrance Day service which I doubt nutmeg will attend due to her being snubbed to another balcony last year. Harry has now gone public on his feud with William. Their socially screwd. Allegedly, speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, …… purple PURPLE!!! really REALLY!!! The colour of royalty, not a one bit tramp with allusions of grandeur and a sideline in self pity. One little tit-bit that crossed my mind, the use of pharmaceutical enhanced performance. This conduct induces paranoias, believe me I’v been in recovery for 35 years , it’s a hard habit to hide from , and I bet it’s prevalent, uppers, downers , twisters , benders. Mmmmmm’ interesting!! Allegedly, speculation of course.

Oct 23
ALLEGEDLY ANON … So !! She single handedly saved the monarchy ……… a yachting comforter who is a quid pro Quo whore saved a 1200 year institution from stagnation and decay. Some colonial carpetbagger with loose elastic grifted her a$$ into the BRF and manipulated a Prince who’s a founder member of the easily led club. EPIC !!!! and insults HMTQ last night by disgracing the colour purple.
————
Oct 24
ALLEGEDLY ANON, After a year of PR disasters and faux pas nutmeg still doesn’t understand the secret of royal protocol success , simply put ,you “ quietly attract” rather than obnoxiously promote yourselves. W&K quietly grew into the hearts of The British psyche over a period of hard working years, three gorgeous children and a working royal marriage. Unlike the train wreck of this colonial whore dragged into England’s green and pleasant land. Allegedly, speculation of course. ( O’ Harry). 😔😔😢😢

Oct 27
ALLEGEDLY ANON ‘ it’s still an anathema to English subjects like myself who grew up remembering the The crowning of HMTQ IN 1952. at WA. That now you have an appendage yachting escort who a few years ago slept with anyone who would give her a leg over her social mobility. Hockey players , chicken chefs , golf pros any suckem and fuckums that crossed her akimbos. It’s a sad time for Britain. Ashley Cole ‘ you dodged a bullet. Allegedly, speculation of course.

Oct 28
ALLEGEDLY ANON … Dear skippy, the audacity of this obnoxious creature, thinking she will be given the opportunity to speak, spout more of her vacuous word salad and send the audience into a premature coma. The royal family is in quite distain of her infantile manipulations effecting her blinkered husband. The colonial carpetbagger will soon return from whence she came to the rapturous delight of all Britain. Allegedly. Speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, the obnoxious colonial carpetbagger tells porkies!! Outrageous ,narcissistic ,self promotional, hang me out the window and beat me with the National Enquirer porkies !! Its endemic in her DNA , it’s like listening to cnn , she’s a psychopathic extolling conveyer of mendacious verbiage. I sincerely hope that this appendage that is constantly clawing at our once loved Prince retires to her origins … SOON. allegedly, speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, Since when did a colonial interloper and wife of a royal have the constitutional gall to write a letter of thanks to a sitting MP? Politics off limits!! The rumour mill is grinding away with innuendo and gossip stirring the “ royal sources” into a frenzy. I think there’s going to be quite a Sunday surprise imminent. The protocol illiteracy of nutmegs PR is embarrassing and sad ,where’s Henry 8th !! Allegedly speculation of course.

There WORKING WITH FOOD PEOPLE ARE GOING TO EAT!!!! another PR pratfall.

ALLEGEDLY ANON,… some hacks have their tongue so far up nutmegs @rse that rational communication just becomes a sycophantic Dickensian “ ever so ‘umble, mam”. exercise in dickie licking. Such is the passion of their wanting to be associated with the great unwashed one. ( Fame by association )… example ‘ The Telegraph puff piece. I hope Harry is going to adhere to HM. script this weekend.

HMTQ must have duly noted. social ineptitude on purpose. The final insulting straw.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, Ostracised, financially bereft, ignored and despised. An outed grifter gone rogue. This notary of Babylonian reputation and suspect sexual indulgences will allegedly grace one of the hallowed balconies of Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday. She will contaminate the great and the good patrons of the monarchy of the British public. Please feel free to booooooooo !!
——————
Nov 4
ALLEGEDLY ANON, WAS NUTMEG SCARED TO APPEAR?? This question is at the top of everyone’s agenda after reports that the colonial carpetbagger has fled her unoccupied cottage in Windsor and jumped on a private jet to LAX. The no.1 priority of slutchess disaster is to avoid being verbally castigated by the public at the RAH Saturday night tribute remembrance service. Also it saves her isolating appearance on The hallowed balcony the next day. A joyous departure for Brits. 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋

Nov 5
ALLEGEDLY ANON, RE-REMEMBRANCE FIELDS. Expect nutmeg to push ahead of H. Expect it to wear a rainbow poppy, expect her to look for the cameras, expect her stupid rictus grin, as Skippy comments, expect the unexpected. The public once again are dismayed that Camilla will accompany the colonial carpetbagger on this memorable occasion honouring the fallen. I thought it was illegal to drop trash in the hallowed fields. Expect a complete lack of protocol. Allegedly, speculation of course.
——————
Nov 6
ALLEGEDLY ANON, Dear Skippy The British public are a reserved but unforgiving lot when one tries deception which nutmeg has indulged in. Sooo , if the slutchess and himself appeared together without a minder they would be open to verbal ridicule …… enter stage left Camilla ‘ decorum and protocol would stifle any and all booing from the public, even though they would probably love a good Booo. We wait. Allegedly, speculation of course.

Nov 6
ALLEGEDLY ANON, NUTMEG to have 2nd child in USA’ FFS, well there’s already a child around according to the Golf organiser where you were a caddy escort, O’ when did you have a child in the U.K.?you mean archificial?? The surrogate dump? Surrogates in the US are ten a penny in Calipornia so a 43 year old grifting yachter won’t have a problem giving “birth” there. You can pay a Surrogate out of the 5mill. Docudrama you’re making in LA. ALLEGEDLY, SPECULATION OF COURSE.

Nov 6
ALLEGEDLY ANON … THE ROYAL PREROGATIVE. HMTQ. is the head of our 1200 year Monarchy. There was a time in antiquity when only the head of the monarchy could wear the colour PURPLE!! This is so relevant to today’s protocol and practice. Sooooo !! let’s not dilute this ageless and respectful practice. “ are you listening slutchess!! “ ONLY HMTQ …… OK’ good!! now carry on doing what you do best at Soho ho ho ho. Allegedly ,speculation of course

ALLEGEDLY ANON …… remarks about nutmegs upper lip, all I can surmise is herpes , an old affliction resurfaced. God knows, knowing what we know about her colourful history it wouldn’t surprise me that any number of maladies would have infected her, escorting ,Yachting, So-hoing, auditioning, golf-caddying, friends of porn-stars, hockey players,……… social diseases are an occupational hazard. Allegedly, speculation of course 😷😷😷😷😷
——————
Nov 11
ALLEGEDLY ANON, “ you wanted to see me Gran, “ Yes Harry, about you both slipping into the royal box , protocol depicts placement Harry!! You both sit at the back for a reason, she’s not a royal, and Harry’ her dress was inappropriate for the occasion, one exposes ones cleavage on reality shows , not honouring the fallen. Now pop off to America and try to be a Little understated, remind your wife to return those earrings. They belonged to Queen Mary, remember Harry, discretion not obsession.
And here is why I don’t believe you. Harry is NOT leaving, I hardly doubt HM would be so calm…..and second…MM NEVER borrowed any jewelry from HM! That is fake! Those earrings were cheap…..only HM wears Queen Mary’s pearl earrings….MM has NEVER worn them…..this conversation NEVER happened! And another thing…….Harry would not have moved seats without permission…not that close to HM!

ALLEGEDLY ANON … IMAGES OF A DESPERATE ESCORT … of all the slutty images we have seen over the last two years( too many to mention) there are thousands that her PR destroyed that would compromise her position as a wife of a member of the royal family. Is this the dossier that the DM paid a million pounds for, and the intel. that LG has onmegatramp, that face of a thousand smirks says it all “ I’m untouchable”. Where have those lips been Harry??Ughhhh !! Allegedly , speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, Expect nutmeg to hook up with HRC during the next few days , mutual hugging and @ss kissing. Dorito will appear in a out of focus photo with Harry and nutmeg, a PR statement will announce another pivotal ploy that she will go to the states but may return to be at Sandringham for Christmas, or may not. ALLEGEDLY ANON, dear skippy, I know this great blog is not political but KAC just Blitzed ,Wolf Blitzer on CNN , EPIC!! …… The Queen is reported by the DE That she “drops in” on our dynamic duo because nutmeg needs “ cheering up”, and so she has a cuppa with the depression prone actress drawing on her years of experience to inject some positivity, yeah right!! 🤣🤣🤣 we all swallow that bull$h!t. Sunshine Sucks in disaster mode again!! HMTQ DROPS IN ON NUTMEG!! … WTF!!

Nov 14
ALLEGEDLY ANON, She was pregnant? A shotgun marriage of unhappy people, a WTF wedding cake, a very hurried guest list, no pomp no carpet, only a narc would walk alone down the aisle alone with the knowledge you’ve got him by the b***. A very strange fakency, no record of actual birth date, FFS birth certificate, “ he’s changed over two weeks” , “ can we see his face.” WE ALL WITNESSED HER LIES, WE ALL SUSPECTED SOMETHING ODD. WE ALL KNEW. IF SHES HONEST , WHY THE AGGRESSIVE PR?? 🤔🤔🤔
—————
Nov 14
ALLEGEDLY ANON, THIS VIDEO OF THE BUMP POPPING WHEN SHE STANDS UP. nutmeg looks very self conscious and embarrassed. ( build-up of air within the prosthetic and a rapid exhalation of compressed air. ) sounds like a “pop”. She compresses the prosthetic when she bends down and air is rapidly expelled as she stands up. POP!! Anyone still think she was REALLY pregnant??? Didn’t think so.

nov 13
ALLEGEDLY ANON, Expect nutmeg to hook up with HRC during the next few days , mutual hugging and @ss kissing. Dorito will appear in a out of focus photo with Harry and nutmeg, a PR statement will announce another pivotal ploy that she will go to the states but may return to be at Sandringham for Christmas, or may not. All smoking mirror Kabuki for the tabloids to drool over and lay false trails. Actually nutmegs in the Caribbean soaking up the men. Allegedly. Speculation of course.

Nov 14
ALLEGEDLY ANON, So, Rebecca English writes today “EXCLUSIVE” HRC visits nutmeg, ON THE 13th , two days ago Allegedly anon writes , HRC WILL VISIT NUTMEG!! , all we can conclude is that RE gets her information on SKIPPY!!! like so many informants proclaiming scoops they see IT FIRST ON SKIPPY!!! And we all know nutmeg visits here. And HMTQ god bless her. Nutmeg reads the blog and then goes up to her bedroom and cries😭😭😭😭😭😭
——————
Nov 15
ALLEGEDLY ANON, HRC was reported to visit nutmeg and archificial ……… but NOT APPEARING ON COURT CIRCULAR “ Sooooo BS !! It’s all a PR push with the tabloids trying to put some lipstick on this propaganda pig. Rebecca English trying for a try, whooooops , tabloid tosh. Where are your receipts , “ well actually I haven’t any” “ I just printed the gossip” sources darling, sources !! It’s suggested that you’re a good journalist, but that’s gossip, allegedly, speculation of course.

ALLEGEDLY ANON, THE DEADLY DIARIES, O, yes the Machiavellian manipulator has a diary, ( actually she’s on her third) an intimate record of conversations, events and observations that has “ affected” the “ I’m not OK” Woke scribe over the , leading up to, wedding and disasters afterwards. And don’t let us forget all the “ pillow-talk” she’s chronicled. She’s gathered more $h!t on the royal family over the past year that defies comprehension. speculation of course. Publication imminent allegedly.
—————
Nov 18
ALLEGEDLY ANON, WELL, here’s a thing, nutmegs coercion of Harry to skip Christmas with the family seems selfish and petty, both PP&HM in their nineties need the love and support of the royal extended family, nutmeg has a younger mother and plenty of years to indulge her self-centredness. She’s not helping the damage limitation by swanning off to Malibu in her poo hat. 💩💩💩… allegedly, speculation of course.
——————
Nov 19
ALLEGEDLY ANON, The “ court of public opinion” and “trail by media” is a popular hysterical pastime, the peeps need drama , what would we do without the constant daily shower of innuendo and hearsay, gossip and third hand “quotes” from the ever sensational “Tabloids”. Headlines are contagious, insidious deformation of character is the rule of day wether true or false. I’m guilty of jumping on the bandwagon of conjecture. BUT … I suggest we all wait and see. IUPG. allegedly speculation of course.

Nov 20
ALLEGEDLY ANON, BC logged 26 recorded trips on Epstein’s private jet. “ my friend Bill Clinton sat on that seat”,Epstein said to a pubescent jet traveller as she flew to an assignation with the paedophile Billionaire. MSM seems to have air brushed this out of the public conscience, while castigating PA , BC seems to have very powerful press Associations. S’pose nobody wants to be suicided. Allegedly, speculation of course 💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣
—————-
Nov 20
ALLEGEDLY ANON, PA has fallen on his sword, for whom?? Wellllllllllllll! …… BC and his Arkansas cabal has all the tapes, the FBI , has tapes. but, BC has “THE” tapes. Allegedly there were over 15 cctv cameras in his NY mansion. Hypothetically these tapes would hold very incriminating evidence on most guests visiting the Machiavellian mansion. Teflon bubba has complete immunity from association with young girls to murder. Unfuckingtouchable!! Allegedly speculation of course. 💰💰💰💰👯♀️👯♀️

Nov 21
ALLEGEDLY ANON, Nutmeg courted by Marvel Pictures, Sony, and Disney on arrival in LA. This opens to conjecture her ambitions while in negotiations with said production giants. Courting future ambitions for a return to her former occupation she is using her celebrity to get a foothold into Hollywood ?………… will PH follow??🤣🤣🤣🤣
————
Nov 22
ALLEGEDLY ANON … SO… Nutmeg takes down her Wikipedia post on being a “deal or no deal” hostess!!!! Trying to airbrush her dubious past. There’s an interview with a golf tournament organiser about hiring “deal or no deal girls” as “caddy’s”. She said nutmeg as married, and had a “KID” and was very popular girl with the golf pros. Mmmmm ‘ someone let the “KID” out of the bag. Allegedly, speculation of course.
—————-
Nov 22
ALLEGEDLY ANON, I wonder if the cancellation of “ Breakfast in America “ has anything to do with the Epstein forthcoming revelations. Nutmegs been banging on about America’ America, for ages, suddenly it’s all off. I believe she has “history” with PA ( yachting) And with JE&GM procuring?? ( hidden years). She’s gone all incommunicado since PAs disaster interview. PA should suggest, turn up at Hamley’s with archificial buying Christmas presents. Allegedly, speculation of course.
—————-
Nov 23
ALLEGEDLY ANON, WHERE IS NUTMEG, not at frog cottage, she’s still smarting from being fobbed off with a “cottage” instead of a palace that she spends her time at itinerant different crash-pads in and around the Capital. Secrecy is paramount when protecting nutmeg and archificial, ………… but wait!!! Nobody has ever seen archificial, is he real???? Was he EVER REAL?? nobody knows, nobody cares anymore. Maybe Harry will shed light. Allegedly, speculation of course 🤫🤫🤫
—————-
Nov 23
ALLEGEDLY ANON, with respect, the monarchy is a dignified elder statesman ruling with ageing concepts that haven’t changed for over 50 years. With it come the problems of cosseted contempt. There is redemption, W&K have the professional ability to change and add a new reality of “ we the people” to the monarchy as a young “Family”. Everywhere they go they trailblaze fresh and new examples of a monarchy for the 22nd century. LETS LET THEM!!
—————
Nov 24
ALLEGEDLY ANON , One thing my little birdies tell me that’s a consensus among the royal family and it’s this. Nutmegs atrocious taste in clothes. The colonial carpetbag has never sought advice from the younger well dressed royal women on he wardrobe, hence she remains the worst dressed offender in Windsor. And no amount of PR spin can correct that. So she’ll remain an assault on the visual senses for The distant future, poor us. Allegedly, speculation of course.
—————-
Nov 25
ALLEGEDLY ANON, POTUS /Melania will stay with the ambassador to the court of St. James and the siblings will probably stay in the same hotel as last year while in London, expect Ivanka to contact nutmeg. The banquet will be a very formal and stiff, Trump will give an address but drift off script, HMTQ will remind all of the importance of NATO. Kate will steal the show and William will endorse his king in waiting credentials. A cool evening. Allegedly, speculation of course.
—————-
Nov 25
ALLEGEDLY ANON, Nutmeg is going to choreograph her Christmas card photo because she’s jealous of Kate’s talent in photography. The Green eyed monster is alive and flourishing at frog cott. or wherever she’s sleeping these days, expect a horrifying snap of ginge&cringe with archificial at a suitably obscure location. We wait with baited indifference. 🧣🧣🧣🧣

ALLEGEDLY ANON, MM said she’s being pitted against the DOC. ………… Ehhhhh , Nutmeg ‘ QUEENS don’t compete with hoes. The Monarchy is the privilege of few , a hoe is a hoe is a hoe. …………… yacht sluts are ten a penny, no matter hoe they married. Allegedly, speculation of course. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Visiting the Maldives - Where tranquillity meets luxury
Every day feels the same, doesn’t it? Cross-legged in the dim light, reading a timeless tale, scrolling through your timeline on Twitter, occasionally dozing off & feeling lowkey depressed – yeah, I feel you. That’s why we’re bringing you the antidote to change with few reasons why you should be visiting the Maldives now.
You’ve been looking for a way out; we happened to be finding out what that exactly is – and after some research, I think it’s safe to say we have an answer.
So, if you’re like a lot of us, just downright tired of welcoming normalcy into your life, keep reading.
But before I tell you more about visiting the Maldives – I hope you’re a fan of sugar-white sand and crystalline water! And while we’re on the topic, I hope your take on ocean view resorts overflowing with luxury & the underwater world is anything but bad, because that’s what visiting the Maldives is all about!
We’re insanely sure you’ve heard a lot about this country! But we’re here to remind you anyway. So, let’s start.
Why The Maldives ?
In addition to the regular reasons used & echoed in every corner of an article about visiting the Maldives, we’ll be giving you a set of other incentives to book a getaway to this country.
Beaches In The Maldives
I’m 110% sure this isn’t the first time you’ve heard about the beaches in the Maldives. I mean, this country is basically hailed as the all-time destination for the ideal beach escapade. So, if it’s one thing the Maldives does right, it’s painting your portrait with shimmering shades of blue, white and green!
Reethi Rah
I’m sure you’ve dealt with your fair share of beaches, but surely never like the beaches in Reethi Rah. What do I mean by that? Let’s just say the beaches promise luxury, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. It’s the perfect cherry on top of a cake filled with layers of bright blue lagoons, secret coves & slender stretches of sand, making it one of the best beaches in the Maldives.
Fulhadhoo Beach
Away from the bustle, Fulhadhoo Beach is all about seclusion. Unarguably one of the most sought-after beaches in the Maldives by both tourists & locals alike. It’s also the go-to place for love birds who chase surreal sunsets & quiet strolls.
Four Seasons Beach
The four seasons beach is for the wide-eyed first-timers. It’s one of the best beaches in the Maldives if you want your beach day to be full of wave lapping dreamscapes. I’m probably not the first to say this, but yes, if you’re planning to have a beach retreat full of soul-stirring moments – I’d suggest the Four Seasons Beach any day. It gets the job done effortlessly, and I’m sure that’s what you would want.
Honourable Mentions
Hulhumale Beach – The most popular of them all!
Vabbinfaru Island Beaches – For the ones who love jet-skiing!
Nika Island Beaches – For the laid-back vibe you’ve always wanted.
The Vaadhoo Island – To experience stars getting envious of the playful Sea of stars at the bioluminescent beach.
Dhigurah Beach – For the ones who want to dive with the sharks.
Bodu Mora – If you love swaying palm trees & an endless supply of coconuts.
Hotels In The Maldives
The hotels in the Maldives are quite frankly out of this world. So, the only real problem you’ll have is choosing where to stay, but then again, it depends on your budget. The Wilderness Edition: 10 remote destinations to get away from it all
Escaping everything and everyone might be high on your post-lockdown list after spending many months indoors this year. Breaths of fresh air have been limited, and the freedom of travel restricted. If it’s all beginning to feel too close to home, here are ten far-flung corners of the world to go off-grid and off-the-beaten-track once this is all over – social distancing guaranteed.
Iceland
A dramatic landscape of black volcanic beaches, ethereal blue lagoons, lunar-like glaciers, spellbinding waterfalls, bubbling springs and lava fields, Iceland is an other-worldly escape for back-to-nature seeking travellers. While the natural beauty of this Nordic island can be experienced all year round, it feels that bit more magical during the winter – when the fjords are frozen, the rustic cabins dusted with snow, and the Northern Lights come out to play.
Hotel Rangá, Hella…This hunting lodge meets palatial log cabin is perfectly positioned for the Golden Circle and glacier expeditions. From snowmobiling to jeep safaris, dog-sledding to horse riding, caving to fishing, a world of Icelandic adventures awaits.
Scotland
From heater-dotted coastlines, hilltop castles and stone-clad villages to craggy peaks and mystical lochs, Scotland is home to some of the most ruggedly beautiful scenery in the world. There is no place quite like the Highlands for completely disconnecting from daily life, where red deer roam the valleys of Glencoe and dolphins swim in the Moray Firth – all with the spectacular backdrop of the UK‘s highest peak, Ben Nevis.
Inverlochy Castle, Fort William…From the dove-grey stone walls and romantic turrets, through to the sumptuously furnished rooms, this Scottish masterpiece of 19th-century baronial splendour is located in a postcard-worthy setting three miles from Fort William. Make the most of the Nevis Range during winter with the snow sports at nearby Aonach Mor.
Mongolia
There’s going off-the-beaten-track, and then there’s Mongolia. Sweeping grassy steppes are home to herds of native horses, which outnumber the country’s human population of largely nomadic caravans. With the Gobi Desert to the south, and the Altai Mountains to the north-west, Ulaanbaatar sits between some of the world’s most extreme terrains – and ranks as one of the coldest capital cities.
Terelj Hotel, Ulaanbaatar…Set on the banks of Terelj River in a remote spot surrounded by wild, tree-covered mountains in the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, this elegant outpost is huddled amongst some of the most carefully protected parkland in the country. The great outdoors is right on your doorstep, from bird watching to horseback riding through meadows of edelweiss.
Sweden
Nestled in the middle of Swedish Lapland, Harads takes you to the Arctic heart of the wilderness. Here, trees heavy with snow are silhouetted against the Northern Lights and traditional red lodges line the Lule River. Home to snow-topped mountains, seemingly endless forests and fast flowing rivers, National Parks cover much of Swedish Lapland. Canoe through birch lined rivers to spot beavers, moose and even wild reindeer in their natural habitats.
Arctic Bath, Harads…Glass walls, floating walkways and sky-gazing decks connect the inside with the great outdoors at this one-of-a-kind resort, where cosy cabins seem to hover above both land and water. Wildlife enthusiasts can join a Sámi reindeer herder at an Arctic circle camp, canoe alongside beavers, embark on a moose safari, photograph golden eagles or go bear spotting.
New Zealand
With panoramic scenery stretching as far as the eye can see, it’s no wonder New Zealand has become the dream destination of many a film director. You’ll find the south island a little cooler than the north, and it tends to have more defined seasons, all equally picture-perfect. There is no shortage of ways to explore the unspoiled landscape of snow-capped mountains, fern covered forests and rolling valleys – from whale watching, bungee jumping, and helicopter rides over glaciers, to skiing and snowboarding some of the world’s best powder snow in the winter.
Bay of Many Coves, Queen Charlotte Sound…Set in a tranquil cove with beautiful views of the Marlborough Sounds, this exclusive retreat is surrounded by an eco-marine haven, way off the beaten track. You will soon understand why Captain Cook chose this area as his favoured anchorage while visiting New Zealand.
Canada
Boasting the world’s longest coastline, with the Atlantic to the East, the Pacific to the West, and the Arctic Ocean stretching along the North, Canada‘s geography is as varied as its spectacular seasons. Everything about this vast country is big: the Niagara Falls, the surf swells, the famous moose and infamous grizzly bears. Get lost in the wilderness of backcountry skiing in British Columbia, polar bear spotting on the northern tundra, whale watching on the picturesque waterfront of Vancouver Island, and canoeing along auburn tree-lined waterways in Nova Scotia.
Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia…A secluded nature sanctuary on the banks of the Tusket River and next to the Tobeatic Wilderness Area, this luxury lodge is surrounded by swathes of forestland. Giving guests the perfect base to discover the backwoods, you are guaranteed to get up close with the local wildlife.
Bhutan
If you’re after luxury in one of its most remote, authentic settings, the last remaining Himalayan Kingdom won’t disappoint. A year-round destination for experiencing nature in its purest form, Bhutan is one of those special places which has to be seen to be believed – hilltop fortresses with fluttering prayer flags, ancient Buddhist monasteries, rhododendrons springing into full bloom, and sedges of endangered Black-Necked Cranes circling the Phobjikha Valley each winter.
Gangtey Lodge, Phobjikha Valley…A world away from the everyday, this all-suite Himalayan hideaway immerses guests in traditional Bhutanese culture, offering an array of authentic experiences including Buddhist meditation classes, archery, and hot stone baths back at the farmhouse.
Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, Paro…Inspired by traditional dzong architecture, this high-altitude retreat is perched amongst the clouds in Neyphu Valley, against a backdrop of rugged cliffs and pine trees. As the first and only traditional spa-inclusive resort in Bhutan, guests of the Sanctuary can enjoy a bespoke programme of treatments in the hands of the in-house medicine doctors.
Colorado, USA
Arriving in Colorado feels a little like setting foot in the Wild West – with copper-red canyons and characterful ranches. Home to the Rocky Mountains, high plains, and desert lands, this scenic state enjoys 300 days of sunshine each year whilst also welcoming snow-seekers to world-renowned ski resorts almost all year round. Its great outdoors are made to be explored, whether on foot, skis, or horseback.
Rawah Ranch, Glendevey…This self-styled ‘dude’ ranch and fly-fishing lodge is straight out of a Western movie – historic Colorado-style cabins in the wild Laramie River Valley. Channel your inner cowboy and ride through thousands of acres of pristine and protected high-country Colorado wilderness.
Lithuania
One of Europe’s best-kept secrets, Lithuania has something of a fairytale feel about it – with tranquil lakes, soaring mountains, and enchanting castles. The countryside is at its most colourful in spring and autumn, but once the snow sets in, the landscape is transformed into a winter wonderland. The five lakes around the small city of Trakai are home to a vast array of wildlife, while its woodlands are designated as a Historical National Park – the only one of its kind in Europe.
Esperanza Resort & SPA, Vilnius…Surrounded by 14 hectares of expansive forests and set beside a beautiful lake, this eco-friendly resort allows guests to make the most of its pristine setting. Spend summer days on forest walks or messing about on the lake. In the winter, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and ice fishing are just a few of the available activities.
Argentina
Discover ends-of-the-earth luxury in the wilds of Patagonian Argentina, with its wide steppes, grasslands, and dramatic desert scenery where cougars, guanacos, and flamingos roam free. Nature lovers won’t be left wanting in Villa La Angostura, a secluded spot in the beautiful Argentinian Lake District with the snow-dusted Andes in the background. Home to the Los Arrayanes National Park and its extraordinary rare rust-brown coihues and ñires – rumour has it that these trees inspired the imaginary forest in Walt Disney’s Bambi.
Correntoso Lake & River Hotel, Villa La Angostura…Nestled in the shadows of the Andes, this lakeside beauty has a spectacular setting on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Here, nature meets nurture with rooms that have the most exhilarating lake and mountain views, and guests are perfectly placed for snow, forest and water escapades.

Arplis - News: 20 Secret Staycation Swaps That Look Like They’re Abroad
We’re here to guide you through the coronavirus lockdown. Sign up to the Life newsletter for daily tips, advice, how-tos and escapism.
It’s safe to say our summer holidays are going to look decidedly different this year with quarantine travel restrictions in place, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dream about your next staycation getaway for life after lockdown.
The UK is filled with stunning landscapes, idyllic beaches, and quaint villages – it’s amazing how a few hours’ drive really does feel like you’re getting away from it all.
We swapped some popular overseas destinations with some strikingly similar UK equivalents. Enjoy.

Are Staycations The Way Forward For Your Holiday This Year?
1. Visit West Voe Beach, Shetlands, Scotland instead of Yyteri Beach, Finland
This crescent-shaped white sandy beach of West Voe beach is sheltered by steep dunes covered in marram grass and looks out onto turquoise waters. It reminds me of Yyteri beach on Finland’s west coast.
Yyteri has a magnificent 6km stretch of golden sands that has a wild feel and is backed by extensive sand dunes, wispy beach grass, and nearby woodlands.
The Shetlands has the upper hand with almost 1,700 miles of coastline and West Voe beach is one of five spots to receive a Seaside Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful. It might not be the piña colada-sipping kind of beach holiday, but you can almost imagine breathing in that fresh sea breeze.
2. Visit Observatory Gully, Ben Nevis, Scotland instead of Mont Blanc, the Alps, France
Gasping for a slice of the piste? Trade your usual ski holiday in the Alps for Scotland’s Ben Nevis, which is the UK’s highest mountain. Standing tall at 1345m, the Scottish slopes have had peak snow conditions for years where skiers, climbers, and snowboarders can tear up the slopes and take in the stunning views at the same time.
The Alps might be the more popular choice for a ski session because of its huge alpine ski region that stretches almost one thousand miles across five countries and houses thousands of ski resorts, but when flying is out of the question, sometimes you’ve got to bring powder to the people right at home. We don’t make the mountain rules.
3. Visit Elegug Stacks, Pembrokeshire, Wales instead of Nusa Penida, Bali
Elegug Stacks’ dramatic natural rock formations will rock your world. Pembrokeshire is famed for its secluded rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and untouched woodland, which some say resembles Nusa Penida in Bali.
The largest of three exotic Nusa islands off from mainland Bali, this crystal clear bay boasts picturesque cliffs and lagoons, but it can get too busy during peak season, so take the road less travelled and opt for Wales. It might lack in infrastructure (and guaranteed sunshine), but makes up for with unspoiled natural beauty.
4. Visit High Force Waterfalls, Durham, England instead of Nauyaca Waterfalls, Costa Rica
Maybe TLC were wrong. We should go chasing waterfalls, especially when they’re this beautiful. Fall for Durham’s High Force Waterfalls, which is one of the most spectacular cascades in Britain and enjoy the soothing sounds of continuous water flow.
To match the roaring force of nature it’s been compared to Nauyaca Waterfall in Costa Rica, which sits in a wide canyon that’s covered in lush greenery and offers a deep natural pool at the base where you can dive right in. You might not be able to swim at High Force Waterfalls, but the rocks are far more ancient – with origins dating back over 300 million years!
5. Visit Langamull Beach, Isle of Mull, Scotland instead of Crane Beach, Barbados
Langamull beach is home to glistening white shell sand, hidden coves and clear blue waters, which often gets mixed up with Crane Beach in Barbados. Can you spot the difference?
Voted one of the ‘Top 25 Sexiest Beaches in the World’ by The Travel Channel, the Barbados strip of powder-soft, pink-tinged sand is known for its luxury nearby resorts and villas.
But who needs the nine-hour flight to the Caribbean when we have ‘The Mull of the Caribbeans’ right here on British soil? It’s one of the island’ best-kept secrets, steeped in rich history, bountiful wildlife and iconic scenery.
6. Norfolk Lavender Fields, Heacham, England instead of Provence, France
Wake up and smell the lavender. Surround yourself with acres upon acres of dusky purple-hued flowers in Norfolk’s lavender fields. They might not be as famous as their French counterpart in Provence, but you can still get your fill of calming, delicate fragrance right here in the UK.
Provence does trump Norfolk on the stunning mountain and stone backdrop, but you can always visit another year. It’s cutting it fine, but we may catch the tail end of the season just before the lavender is harvested in September.
7. Visit Mealtfalls, Isle of Skye, Scotland instead of Háifoss Waterfall, Iceland
Prepare to be entranced by Mealtfalls’s powerful stream of water that plunges straight off a cliff and down into the turquoise clear waters below. On second glance it looks just like Háifoss Waterfall in Iceland.
Háifoss is one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland and comes in at a whopping 122m high and well worth a visit once you’re able. If you’re lucky enough, you might be able to see rainbows within the mist of the main falls.
However, the good thing about Scotland is that there’s minimal hiking required if you’re not feeling up to it and want to get straight in seeing the stunning ancient cliffs. Result.
8. Bidean nam Bian, Scotland instead of the Asian Himalayas
Take in the breathtaking views of the majestic range of Bidean nam Bian mountains on the south side of Glen Coe. The higher you hike the more dramatic crags, ridges and summits you’ll spot along the way.
It draws similarities to the lush, verdant green mountains of the Himalayas. Travel seekers looking for adventure across the other side of the globe can chase similar thrills in Scotland.
9. Visit Cockington Village, Devon, England instead of Veules-les-Roses, France
Jokes about the name aside, Cockington is a picturesque thatched-roof village hidden away just outside of Torquay, originally founded in the Iron Age. It’s worth taking a walk back in time along this UNESCO geopark site’s narrow lanes and the nearby Cockington Country Park, which has bagged a Green Flag Award for the last 23 years in a row.
Cockington looks the spitting image of the lovely Veules-les-Roses village in France. A small, quaint town in the Normandy region dotted with watermills, Norman houses, and flower gardens. Lush.
10. Visit Sgwd yr Eira Waterfall, Brecon Beacons, Wales instead of Tad Mork Waterfall, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Hidden deep within the Welsh valleys of the Brecon Beacons is waterfall country where you’ll be treated to towering falls left, right and centre, but the highlight is the beautiful Sgwd yr Eira’s classic rectangular drop.
It’s the same shape as the Tad Mork Waterfall in Chiang Mai Thailand, which looks every bit as breathtaking and serene as the photo looks. But who needs Thailand when you have an area of outstanding beauty right on our doorsteps? It’s a 2.5-mile walk to get to the falls from the nearest village, but you’ll be rewarded with magnificent falls in full flow.
11. Visit Gaping Gill, North Yorkshire, England instead of Son Doong, Vietnam
Fall in love with Gaping Gill’s 98-metre deep pothole and have a rock-solid good time. This Northern Yorkshire rocky landmark is only open twice a year, get a glimpse of one of the most complex cave systems in the UK.
Speaking of large caves, you’re going to dig Son Doong cave in Vietnam. It’s the world’s biggest cave measuring 1.35bn cubic feet long, it’s so big that it has its own weather system and can comfortably fit a Boeing 747 in its largest passage. Yeah, that big.
For now, all the geology lovers out there can get their fix by appreciating some of the wonders we have right here in Britain.
12. Visit Lunan Bay, Scotland instead of Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Seeing double? Don’t worry it’s not your eyes deceiving you, Lunan Bay in Scotland looks exactly like Massachusetts’s Cape Cod. This British beach was originally built for King William of Scotland to defend against Viking invaders and really does have it all: a magnificent sweep of sand, a cave with an arch at its northern end, and even a ruined castle.
Its American hook-shaped counterpart can be just as beautiful, with its quaint fishing villages, kitschy tourist traps, and marram grass backed beaches dotted throughout. However, Scotland edges in the lead with its cool Viking history.
13. Visit Sandwood Bay Beach, Sutherland, Scotland instead of Skallerup Strand Beach, Lønstrup, Denmark
Secluded long coastal stretch facing the ocean? Check. Huge beautiful pink sand dunes? Check. Crystal clear freshwater blue lake? Check. Hit the holiday jackpot at the picture-perfect Sandwood Bay Beach in Scotland.
And for the lottery rollover, Denmark’s family-friendly Skallerup Strand Beach is also a winner. There are tons of activities to do here including hiking and beach fishing.
14. Visit Achmelvich Beach, Lochinver, Scotland instead of Saleccia Beach, Corsica, France
Enjoy your one-way ticket to relax town at Achmelvich Beach. Sprinkled with sandy white beaches, a ruined old mill, and a hidden cove, who would have guessed that all this was in Scotland? With its tranquil deep blue waters, it echoes something you would find in the south of France.
Do a double-take of its doppelgänger at the secluded Selaccia Beach on Corsica Island. This dazzling flash of white sand is actually on a desert part of a protected area near dense scrubland, but head north of that and you’ll be rewarded with the same turquoise seas as Scotland.
15. Visit Castell Coch, Wales instead of Bran Castle, Transylvania, Romania
Magic by name, magic by nature. Castell Coch or ‘Red Castle’ near Cardiff in Wales towers high above the surrounding ancient beech woods. This 19th-century Gothic Revival castle was built upon the ruins of a medieval fortress and it’s almost impossible to tell apart from Bran Castle in Transylvania.
Perched dramatically on a hill and you’ll be able to see its distinctive orange-tiled turrets and steeples rise high above the trees. Both castles have mystical properties attached to it. One is associated with wizards and witches, and the other with vampires. We’ll let you decide which is which.
16. Visit Smoo Cave, Sutherland, Scotland instead of Phra Nang cave, Krabi, Thailand
Go deeper underground to see Scotland’s Smoo Cave. Its limestone scenery dominates the Sutherland region and offers a fascinating network of cave systems.
For more stalagmites and stalactite formation action, cast your eye to Phra Nang cave in Krabi. Legend says that an Indian princess was killed in a shipwreck offshore and her ghost occupied the cave, which is why it’s sometime’s known as Princess cave. Whatever the tales are, one story that’s set straight is that this boat access-only cave underneath a cliff surrounded by alluring white-sand beaches is legendary around Thailand.
17. Visit Barafundle Bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales instead of Ithaca, Ionian, Greece
It’s not surprising that Barafundle Bay in Wales scooped up the Seaside and Green Coast Awards for one of Britain’s best beaches. From scenic walks along the impressive rocky cliffs to dramatic rock arches and rolling sand dunes, this golden half-mile crescent-shaped stretch is worth its weight in gold.
You may have visited Barafundle’s Greek twin: the island of Ithaca just off the northeast coast of Kefalonia. Ithaca is a mythical Greek island that’s home to Odysseus and glorious views across the Ionian Sea.
18. Visit Kynance Cove, Cornwall, England instead of Costa Paradiso, Sardinia, Italy
Kynance Cove in Cornwall is known as the Jewel of the Lizard Peninsula and it’s easy to see why. From its brilliant turquoise seas, pale sandy beaches and rocky coastline, it’ll soon be the jewel of your eye, too.
But don’t get confused with Costa Paradiso in Sardinia. Both share a similar craggily shore, but Italy’s beach resort offers a secluded beach with panoramic views of the Mediterranean rocky terrain. We’ll take both, thanks.
19. Visit Durdle Door, Dorset, England instead of Anacapa Island, California, US
Dorset holds the key to a chilled out break in the sun. Make your way down to Jurassic Coast and peep through the stunning natural wonder of Durdle Door that defines the dramatic coastline.
Once we can travel again, 5,000 miles west of Durdle Door lies the volcanic Anacapa Island off mainland California. Here, you’ll score another hole in one with another almost identical natural formation. It’s one of the most undeveloped, but utterly magical national parks in the US.
20. Visit Portmeirion, Gwynedd, Wales instead of Loro Ciuffenna village, Tuscany, Italy
Modelled on an Italianate-style village – it’s no wonder that Portmeirion on the coast of North Wales takes after its enchanting Tuscan twin. Take a walk through this fairytale technicolour pastel village that overlooks the beautiful Dywryd estuary, woodlands and mountains.
Portmeirion looks like the charming medieval village Loro Ciuffenna, where you’ll see familar rainbow-coloured buildings sitting high above the Ciuffenna river.

My husband and I had been planning to take the classic road trip along the Pacific Coast for a long time. We were waiting for the right time for this adventure and decided to make the most of our Thanksgiving week and venture to the West.
Regarded as not only one of the best road trips in the United States but also in the world, the coastal cruise down this major State Route is on many bucket lists. We were worried it might be too much for just 7 days to cover, but the trip went smoothly.
Below is my guide to explore the gorgeous miles of the iconic road with some essential stops along the way.
You can start this trip at either end. We flew from Boston, and our trip begin in the ultimate “City by the Bay,” San Francisco. Next we headed south to more beaches and breathtaking views in Carmel, Monterey.
Our longest drive of about 4.5 hours, was from breathtaking Monterey to elegant Santa Barbara, and it was absolutely worth it. Then we went further south to the bustle and excitement of Los Angeles, followed by San Diego, at the southern end of the state.
Our favorite by far were the less crowded and more scenic places like Carmel by the Sea and Santa Barbara. You can see the Spanish influence in the architecture; even their CVS Pharmacy looks like a beautiful Spanish villa from afar.
The weather is tropical and about the same all year long. North is cooler than the south, so as we drove down the coast, temperature rose drastically. Even in November, the week of Thanksgiving, it was blazing 90 degrees in LA and San Diego. I’m glad we had packed accordingly.
San Fransisco
San Francisco is a top holiday destination featuring scenic beauty and great ethnic and cultural diversity.
I went to San Fransisco, with flowers in my hair (or on my jacket), with many high expectations. It was just how I had imagined and better. Steep streets and colorful houses, among mountains and a deep blue sky. It feels much different than the East Coast.
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre
Our itinerary included the famous Cable Cars, Fisherman’s Wharf, and many other attractions. Day 1, we strolled through Golden Gate Park, and then took a memorable ride with Cable Cars at night to avoid the crowds. On Day 2, we took a leisurely stroll along Fisherman’s Wharf, and finally the famous Lombard Street. We also saw the popular among tourists, the Painted Ladies and Mrs. Doubtfire’s house, that brought back many childhood memories.
Golden Gate
An other attraction I loved was the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. Built for the 1915, it was one of the only constructions kept intact after the world fair. You must visit this landmark to take in the elegant rotunda, the Greek-style colonnades, and the lagoon, where you can see a clear reflection of the building. Here you can relax in the company of swans and ducks and be surrounded by stunning homes around you. It is also steps away from a beautiful beach.
My absolute favorite part of our trip to San Fransisco was hiking up the hill to get a better view of the Golden Gate. The secret is to cross the bridge and head to the Vista Point. From there you take the steps, cross under the bridge and hike up a small hill and reach the perfect height for a great view of the City by the Bay.
Carmel by the Sea & Monterey
Our drive on Highway 1 from San Fransisco to Carmel was absolutely stunning. Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply referred to as Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, founded in 1902.
We spent our day walking around the fairytale cottages and admiring the scenic beauty of Carmel.
The white sand beaches and the cottage like homes made it look like it was out of a storybook.
Fairytale Cottages in Carmel by the Sea
Carmel Beach
I made my husband promise me to buy us a home in Carmel after we retire. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. This was by far the best part of our trip.
After spending the day at the beach, we headed towards Monterey, where we stayed the night at Portola Hotel & Spa, which I would highly recommend. In Monterey, we saw the spots where my favorite HBO show Big Little Lies was shot.
The next morning we drove past the Big Sur, for some horseback riding on the beach. This was by far the best experience. Riding a horse by the ocean, under the blue skies, was dream like.
Santa Barbara
Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains, Santa Barbara is a solid vacation destination with its wide beaches, renowned wineries, and some of California’s finest shopping and dining options.
Traveling by car from Carmel to Santa Barbara takes about 4.5 hours. We reached Santa Barbara at night and started off our visit by going to a great Spanish restaurant called Loquita. The next morning we toured the pleasant surroundings at Shoreline Park, and took in the waterfront at Stearns Wharf. Tall palm trees, gorgeous architecture and elegance is what Santa Barbara is all about. We enjoyed our short stay in this beautiful American Riviera.
Los Angeles
You can drive from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles in 2 hours.
This City of Angels is surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
We were upgraded to a Penthouse at the Andaz Hotel in West Hollywood, where we enjoyed the view and the hustle bustle of the city. If you love shopping as much as I do, take a drive down Rodeo Drive and it’ll feel like you’re in designer heaven. With the Holiday decor, it was the perfect place to be.
The next morning we drove around the Sunset Boulevard and towards the Hollywood sign. We also went to see the popular Walk of Fame to conclude our stay in L.A.
San Diego
Our last stop was America’s Finest City, San Diego. You can drive from Los Angeles to San Diego in 2.5 hours.
Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Our itinerary included Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, and other attractions. Day 1, we enjoyed the sand and surf at La Jolla Cove, and soaked up the sun at 90 degrees at Balboa Park. We enjoyed delicious Persian cuisine at Bandar Restaurant in Gaslamp Quarter, and finally got a taste of local nightlife at Top of the Hyatt.
We had a great experience staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel. The Harbour view from our room was to die for.
Day 2 was a packed day of sightseeing: we admired nature’s creatures, like seals at the Wharf and took in the waterfront at the Seaport Village.
It was a record high of 92 degrees on our last day in California, and luckily it was also Black Friday. We spent the rest of the day, avoiding the heat, at the Fashion Valley mall. it is an upscale, beautiful open-air shopping mall in Mission Valley.
We have now checked off this road trip off our bucket list. √
Hope you found a few good trip ideas in my blog post for your next West Coast excursion.
Cheers!

The Garden of Secrets
The scent of cinnamon mingled with the essence of the peach inside the kitchen, where the warm sunbeams that indicated the arrival of summer were sneaking through the window panes. There was that ethereal and delicate sensation that appears at four in the afternoon, knocking on your door and entering, accompanied by all kinds of dreams and fantasies. All the girls lay quietly seated, heads bent and prey to concentration as they peeled fruit. I had rinsed the strawberries inside the bowl, now I was tearing off the leaves while sprinkling them gently with cream and stirring them with the spoon, dividing them into small pieces that ended up disappearing between the cream. She had arrived a while ago from having spent a few hours picking peaches in the garden; now she seemed lost in the orange curves of the fruit while she took one of the peaches to her lips and received it with a soft bite. With a slight hand gesture, she left the fruit on the table and raised those green eyes, tender as galaxies, which probably stored the brightest stars inside, and went to the kitchen cupboard, taking out the honey.
A fleeting breeze shot through the window at the same time she was returning to the table, crawling towards me like a wave of feelings accompanied by sighs. With a fork, I punched one of the pieces of strawberry, mixing it with the cream and brought it to my lips, tasting it. When one of the girls got up and opened the kitchen door, which opened onto the garden of the villa, I had no choice but to keep my eyes fixed on the landscape that loomed out there. The first days of June had brought warm smiles and sunny moments after so many wet and colorful spring days. However, the world seemed to have stopped, as if the clock had been stopped in time and humanity has remained trapped in the interval of both seasons: that Thursday, the sun bathed the surface of the fish pond and the lake, in which heavenly water lilies bloomed under the water, and the cherry tree remained in its pure and sublime state. The young lady left the kitchen door open as if it were a magic door through which all kinds of charms sneaked. I glimpsed the beautiful vision of the orange tree and the lemon tree and closed my eyes, feeling the waves of the gentle breeze. I chewed the strawberries mixed with cream and let them slide down my throat, coloring it with the reddish sweet that suddenly took hold of my heart.
I thought of the upcoming days, of all the bicycle rides that awaited me, of all the walks along the sea, of all the serene days in which this curious but comforting common ataraxia would reign. Strawberries and cream melted into me like feet melting in the sand after so many days without hearing the whispers of the ocean. The girls could not wait any longer, they got up and soon went outside to explore. She remained in the kitchen: she had chopped the peach and dipped it in honey. She looked up at me and swallowed delicately, then smiling as if she knew something I did not. The sound of the voices of the others started disappearing within the minutes, indicating that maybe they would have gone out for a walk, sowing a quiet and sweet silence in which only the beating of my heart and the melting bits of peach could be felt sliding down her neck. Her rosy cheeks seemed to have been graciously painted by the most divine brush, they seemed to have been caressed by the sweetest angel.
I got up from the chair, having already eaten all my strawberries with cream, and went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I felt an emotion that at times mixed with fear, that instants later returned to be that joyful and pleasant sensation. I washed my hands with soap and watched the mirror for a moment before returning to the kitchen. Upon returning, she had already finished her peaches with honey and was now lying with her back to me and sitting on the kitchen plateau, staring at a small bird that had perched on the window. There was darkness in the kitchen, for I realized that during my absence, she had closed the door and pushed the curtains of the window forward so that only a slight and almost non-existent light in the form of a lightning bolt would fall through them and you could glimpse the cherry tree. Just at that tiny point that was not covered by the curtains had landed the little bird, whose fur was an oceanic blue tone.
There was this beautiful calm, a divine silence that transported me to some kind of paradise. The dark room seemed stagnant in a timeless line. Suddenly, I had no idea who we were.
Silently, I approeached her and my eyes settled on the silky skin that the ray of sun illuminated on her neck. I let out a long sigh and, leaning in the most delicate way, I brushed her hair aside with the tips of my fingers and put my lips where the sun kissed her neck. I felt her shudder in silence; at that moment, I swore I could hear the light sound of the little fishes swimming in the pond, and I heard the tender melody of the rabbits running around the garden, and the singing of the waves when they meet the shore, I could feel the music of the birds , the raindrops falling on the leaves of our garden, the wind caressing the trees, the nocturnal sounds as the night fell. I could hear everything through the delicate taste of her skin. Those sweet sounds mixed with the precious silence, thus creating the most tender melody, as if the Universe touched only for us two at that moment.
The warm mark of my lips was impregnated at that point on her skin like a painting, illuminated by the sun rays, revealing the sublime silhouette of my lips. When I closed my eyes and let myself fall back on her skin, she murmured some warm words that entered my insides as if the sky melted in my ears. I closed my eyes and kissed blindly every corner where my curious lips walked and landed, like a blind man walking on a path of roses. I felt soft hands that fell on my cheeks when my lips found hers suddenly. It was an innocent and delicate kiss, I savored the tender taste of peach and honey in her mouth, fell completely under her touch, letting the taste drag me completely into the deepest waves, allowing it to completely consume me, as if it were a galaxy in which I was drowning. I felt the bright stars swim around me, I plunged into that dreamy galaxy, where I could hear all kinds of beautiful melodies and taste the most tender dreams. That kiss tasted like clarity, like purity, it tasted like devotion and hope. In my head, I pictured each flower in our garden: dahlias, daisies, gardenias, daffodils, cherry trees, jasmine, roses, orchids, water lilies. When her hands brushed mine and our fingers entwined like tiny clouds lost in the blue sky, I descended into the most unreal fantasy.
Her soft silky fingers slid down my red cheeks and my lips took off from hers to trace a series of fleeting and at the same time quiet kisses on her nose, her burning cheeks and her earlobe. Her fingers traced small caresses on my collarbone as I caught her other hand in mine and brought it to my lips, planting delicate kisses on her palm, slowly transforming them into a rain of kisses and caresses. I slid down the palm of her hand to the tips of her fingers. The distant melody that played only for our senses seemed to become more mystical and closer, surrounding us with its ocean of feelings. With closed eyes, I kissed her fingers and brought her index finger to my lips, inside my mouth, where only I could feel every scent of her skin, every fragrance that came from it. I repeated the same action with each one of her delicate pink fingers, ending by stopping for a few minutes that seemed like hours in the heavenly sensation of her index finger and her middle finger submerging in the warmth of my mouth until I could feel every heartbeat that echoed in her heart, as if now they were also part of me. Her big eyes watched me like a bright and beautiful lagoon that kept the most beautiful treasures inside, soft and tender melodies emerging from her lips like beautiful sonnets, like mermaid songs. On each of her fingers I left all my dreams and all my worship. Time had stopped while her hands, now marked by my eternal love and devotion, returned to hold me in the sweetest way and our galaxies collapsed again, forgetting any Universe other than that, under that sunny afternoon between spring and summer, inside that dark kitchen and between all the silence and all the soft harmonies of the Universe, the taste of honey, peach and strawberries in each kiss that we placed on our skin, the bright stars that appeared when we touched and in everything that disappeared during those infinite instants, leaving us alone with our own sweet secret.

Best brand-new places for travellers to stay in 2018-- Lonesome Planet
Whether you’re looking to splash cash or save on your stay, there are some extraordinary new places to lay your head in 2018. The only issue? The excitement may keep you awake.
'A room with a view' doesn't get much better than the breathtaking Silo Hotel © The Royal Portfolio
Silo Hotel, South Africa
Built within the lift tower of an old grain silo in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, this incredible boutique hotel is as stunning as the views it offers of Table Mountain. The Silo juxtaposes modernity with history, featuring geodesic windows bulging out of the 1920s industrial concrete exterior. And as the much-hyped Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) has opened downstairs, it just gets better.
MOCAA’s sculpture garden will be accessible from a weighbridge on the Silo’s sixth floor.
Floating Capsule Hotel, Japan
In 2015, Huis Ten Bosch created the world’s first hotel staffed by robots, and in late 2017 it is scheduled to complete its new floating capsule hotel. The two-storey spheres, complete with beds under a glass dome, will travel slowly across a 6km stretch of water during the night, bringing guests to a new island adventure resort.
Huis Ten Bosch is located in the city of Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Stay in the heart of Tasmania's rugged Unesco-listed wilderness © Thousand Lakes Lodge
Thousand Lakes Lodge, Australia
The chance to explore the rugged and isolated beauty of the Unesco-listed Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area is now a step closer, thanks to this freshly opened lodge. Transformed from a former training facility for Antarctic expeditions, the nine-room Thousand Lakes Lodge is an incredibly welcoming (and warming) place to base yourself for hiking, fishing, mountain biking and wildlife watching on the beautiful highland plains.
The low-impact eco-lodge is a 90-minute drive from Launceston in northern Tasmania.
Moss Hotel, Iceland
The steaming Blue Lagoon is Iceland’s most famed sight, and this year it will be possible to wake up with a spectacular view over it. Powered by sustainable energy from geothermal activity, this modern and minimalist luxury hotel sits atop moss-covered lava flows that date back to 1226. And, of course, a Blue Lagoon hotel wouldn’t be complete without a subterranean spa – the Lava Cove.
The Lagoon Suite features access to a private portion of the lagoon.
Brussels' Jam Hotel epitomises urban chic © Jam Hotel
Jam Hotel, Belgium
When Jean-Michel André, the brains behind Château de la Poste, Chelton and Le Berger hotels, combined forces with architect Olivia Gustot to transform the former St Luke School of Architecture in Brussels, the result was bound to be exceptional. Urban tones abound, with exposed brick, concrete and plywood throughout. The 78 rooms are topped out with an attractive bar and lengthy rooftop pool and terrace.
There’s the 18-bed Giga dorm (€18), Super singles (€49) and other private rooms for groups ranging from two to six people.
The Sill, UK
Youth hostels are rarely gleaming, stylish sculptures of glass and steel. And it’s not often one forms part of a unique ‘discovery centre’. But at historic Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland, The Sill is replete with space for exhibitions, plays and music events. Rooms sleep two, three or four people, and have access to a kitchen, chill zones, wi-fi and some of the starriest skies around.
The whole complex is powered by renewable energy. Beds (with breakfast) start from £21.
Luxuriate in your private jungle villa along the Iguazu River © Awasi Iguazu
Awasi Iguazú, Argentina
Building on its pioneering properties in the Atacama and Patagonia, Awasi has created a wonderful 14-villa lodge just 15 minutes from the legendary Iguazú Falls. Perched on stilts to reduce environmental impact, and well spaced in dense jungle along the banks of the Iguazú River, villas feature private plunge pools, outdoor showers and large living areas.
Each villa has a 4WD and private guide to explore the area.
The Robey, USA
Like a thick slice of Art Deco pie, this wedge-shaped hotel towers over an area of Chicago that eats, drinks and breathes art and culture – namely the neighbourhoods of Wicker Park and Bucktown. The eclectic energy on the streets carries right up to The Robey’s 13th-floor lounge, which offers uninterrupted 180-degree views of the city’s skyline.
Late check-outs, transport links aplenty and rooms from US$155... happy days (and nights).
Dawn breaks over the cocoon-like domes of the Highlands Camp overlooking the Ngorongoro crater © The Highlands Camp
The Highlands Camp, Tanzania
While other travellers queue to enter the wildlife haven of Ngorongoro, Africa’s most famous crater, guests at Asilia’s Highlands Camp will awake inside a remote part of the conservation area. Taking glamping to a new level, this eco-conscious camp’s eight large rooms are quilted, cocoon-like domes with unforgettable views over the African wilderness. And Asilia’s long-term relationship with local Maasai carries over to rich and meaningful cultural experiences for guests, too.
Wildlife drives, hikes and meals are all included.
Null Stern, Switzerland
Five stars? Try no stars (well, except those above your head), and no walls for that matter. The brainchild of twin concept artists Patrik and Frank Riklin, the Null Stern is nothing but a beautiful bed in the middle of the Swiss wilderness. The original ‘Alpine Room’ sold out quickly in 2017, but 25 more beds in secret Swiss locations will crop up in 2018.
Add your name to the waiting list before it’s too late.

Let me go to the place which located at the ‘Pacific Rim of Fire’. This country is literally on fire because of its amazing tourist attractions and action in Bali has to offer. A place that has the most active Volcanoes in the world and it offers gorgeous sunsets, has biggest Buddhist temple, a very popular Bananas in the world, largest coffee producers in the world, the largest Lizard in the world. A place to relax and get a good massage.
“Inside Cebu Pacific whilst I was on my trip to Bali, indonesia.”
This trip, I was lucky enough to experience some of the most beautiful locations and resorts the island has to offer, beginning in Tanah Lot Temple, then to Masakan, Pantai Pandawan, Abian, Subak, and Uluwatu. The thing I love most about Bali is that it offers something for everyone, the amazing wave breaks, some of the beautiful beaches, exotic weather, laidback atmosphere, rich heritage, and food and fantastic restaurants. As a matter of fact, I been here 4 times and looking forward to going back. One of the reasons why I want to keep coming back here because of the 21-famous beaches and of course, the ‘Luwak’ coffee. Aside from the famous beaches in Bali such as Kuta, Sanur, and Nusa Dua. There are still 21- beaches in Bali, but I haven’t been to all of these. I will make sure that next time I would be able to visit these other beaches that I haven’t been into such as Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, Amed Beach, Thomas Beach, Balian Beach, Bingin Beach, White Sand Beach, Suluban Beach, Medewi Beach, Blue Lagoon, Pandang-Pandang Beach, Sundays Beach Club, Keramas Beach, Balangan Beach, Jimbaran Bay, Echo Beach. Now, I will share the other beaches that I been into:
Dreamland Beach
This is located at Bukit peninsula. I highly recommend this for beachgoers and surfers who enjoy some Bali’s best reef breaks near the shore. This is also a hidden beach in Bali with stretches of white sand sheltered by limestone cliffs.
“Amazing wave breaks at Dreamland beach.”
Gunung Payung
A secret beach was once a very steep road which takes up to 3-1 steps trek up and down. I’m glad now, it has a smooth road carved down the cliff for easy access. You’ll also find plenty of sunbeds, spots for refreshments and umbrellas to keep cool. This one is really worth to visit.
Bali shot
When in Bali. It’s Mandatory. LOL
going down to the beach
overlooking
Karma Beach (formerly known as Nammos Beach Club)
An exclusive beach. However, public guests are also welcome as it’s open for a beach picnic, as well as water sports and beach activities. This place is located at Karma Kandara Resort, Jalan Villa Kandara, Banjar Wijaya Kusuma, Ungasan.
Seminyak Beach
This beach is situated in the heart of Bali’s oceanfront action. A very crowded beach as there are plenty of beach bars, hotels, and restaurants just footsteps from the seashore. This place is for you if you like to enjoy soaking up with the sunshine on a squishy sun bed, flamboyant beanbag at La Plancha.
“I love this very colourful umbrellas.”
Kuta and Legian Beach
This is Bali’s famous beach resort destination. It is just minutes away from the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Tuban. There are various accomodation options, shopping malls and dining scenes nearby. Most wanderers look forward to visiting Kuta for an entertaining and inexpensive Bali escape.
“Morning shot at Kuta Beach.”
Sanur Beach (Best for cycling and sunrise) – it’s really no doubt that this coastal promenade that extends over 5km long is the best location for wondrous sunrise and cycling. It also has great old villas-built decades ago by the wealthy expats who fell under Bali’s spell. This is definitely good for couples as you can take a romantic stroll with your partner during the morning while watching the spectacular sunrise.
“From Tandjung Sari hotel at Sanur Beach, you can see the Mt. Agung.”
Pandawa Beach
This beach is located at Badung South Kuta. This is known to be one of the regions secret beaches because it is situated behind a mountainous and large carved limestone cliff that reveal wide views to the Indian Ocean. It was officially opened in 2012, fast-gaining popularity among local weekenders and international visitors.
“Splendid natural sea panorama view and white sand in secret beach (Pantai Pandawa).”
On the other hand, you can also learn something new here in Bali, Indonesia. If you are the type of person who likes to go places associated with the temple. This place is for you. Bali, Indonesia has iconic landmarks when it comes to temple. They feature magnificent centuries-old architecture. Each temple is unique and magical.
Uluwatu Temple
This temple is in Uluwatu, South Kuta Badung. This small temple was built at the edge (ulu) of a 70-meter high cliff or rock projecting into the sea was expanded by a Javanese sage, Empu Kuturan in the 11th Century. This temple is inhabited by monkeys, who are notorious for snatching visitors’ belongings. Please make sure to keep an eye with your belongings. However, they can be persuaded into trading the items for fruit. When you visit here, don’t forget to bring fruits.
“At the edge of Uluwatu.”
Tanah Lot Temple
This temple features a unique offshore setting. It is on the coast of Beraban village, kediri, Tabanan Regency, Bali. This temple is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot, a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography.
“This temple is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. “

Pura Ulun Danu Batur
It features around nine majestic temples within its complex. There’s also over 200 different shrines and pavilions inside. This is also one of the important temples in Kintamani, Central Bali.
“An important temple in Kintamani, Central Bali.”
Ground Zero Memorial
On October 2002, there was a bombing attacked wherein 202 people killed and 209 people were injured. They built this permanent memorial site the destroyed Paddy’s Pub on Legian Street. It is a great tribute to a terrible past event.
“Ground Zero Memorial.”
Tegalalang Terrace
This is located at 5km northern part of Ubud village and own the spectacular view of rice terraces. You will enjoy the beautiful panorama of the valley with rice terrace and coconut trees ornament. This is one of the tourist icons in Ubud Bali and expects a lot of tourists every day. You will see the Balinese farmer doing rice field in the oblique area.
Luwak Coffee
This coffee is from The Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxus Hermaphroditus). They feed them with cherries and process it with standard sanitation and hygiene, but they preserve its natural, exotic taste and aroma. Technically, it’s from the poop of Luwak. (LOL) You can include this in your itinerary when you visit Bali in order to see how it’s being done. They have many coffee and tea to choose from such as Mangosteen peel tea, Lemongrass tea, Ginger tea, Lemon tea, Rosella Tea, Red Ginger tea, Ginseng tea, Bali coffee, Cocoa Spices, Vanilla Coffee, Mocca Coffee, and Coconut Coffee.
The Bali experience is something that can’t be explained, it’s a cultural and spiritual journey that needs to be experienced in order to be understood. Bali is called “The Island of The Gods”, and “The Pacific Rim of Fire”.
If you want to know more about the cheapest hotels and restaurants in Bali, Indonesia. You can visit my reviews in Tripadvisor.

15 Best Beaches In Mexico For The Perfect Holiday
As frequent visitors to the beautiful country south of the USA we’re often asked our choices for the best beaches in Mexico. With more than 9,000 km of coastline and nearly 500 beaches to choose from, there’s no quick answer.
To make the question even more complex, beaches in Mexico are as diverse as the country itself.
For starters, on the west coast, you have the golden sands and dark blue of the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California. While the east coast has the powdery white sand and azure seas of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
Add to this the varied natural backdrops, the cultural contrasts, the overall vibes, plus the different beach activities and amenities, and picking the best beaches in Mexico becomes an even tougher task.
So, which part of Mexico has the best beaches?!
Luckily we’ve worked long and hard doing on-the-ground research to prepare for just such a challenge.
Of course, selecting the best of anything can be pretty subjective, especially with so many variables.
So, to level the playing field a little, we’ve listed our choices for 15 of the best beaches of Mexico (from the west coast to the east coast) along with the things that make each one so special.
Whether you dream of an idyllic tropical paradise, adrenaline-pumping water sports, epic diving and snorkelling, or a lively beach party vibe you’ll find your perfect Mexican beach right here.
1. Los Muertos Beach, Puerto Vallarta
Location: In the heart of Peurto Vallarta, Jalisco Click here to find it on the map
Best for: Lounging, swimming, families, partying, water sports, beach vendors
Amenities: Restaurants, bars, pier, sunbeds, umbrellas
While it may not be named the most beautiful beach in Mexico it’s definitely the most fun and popular in the state of Jalisco.
Los Muertos beach runs along the edge of colorful Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta giving easy access from the cobblestone streets full of shops, bars and restaurants.
The beach itself is also lined with a great assortment of places to enjoy a meal or a drink and is the best people-watching in town.
In my opinion, one of the best things about Los Muertos Beach is the eclectic mix of visitors you’ll be joining.
Here you can mingle with local families, retired ex-pats, lively groups of young people, honeymooning couples and proud members of the LGBTQ community who make up a large portion of the visitors to gay-friendly Puerto Vallarta.
Be sure to take a stroll on the iconic modern pier to watch the local fisherman and maybe catch a boat ride to explore beautiful Banderas Bay — one of the top attractions in Puerto Vallarta.

2. Sayulita, Riviera Nayarit
Location: 40 km north of Puerto Vallarta Click here to find it on the map
Best For: Surfing, paddle boarding, lounging, families
Amenities: Restaurants, bars, surf and paddleboard rentals and lessons
Not too long ago Sayulita was a sleepy town known mostly to backpackers, surfers, and artists. It had a boho-hippy vibe with a sprinkling of casual bars and cafes and a couple of surf shops.
Word has since spread of Sayulita’s beauty and today it’s well on the tourist and ex-pat radar as one of the best beaches in Mexico.
Although the days of being a surfers’ secret have passed it’s still an awesome spot for a cool Mexican beach town experience.
The small crescent beach is picture perfect and you’ll be entertained by the surfers honing their skills just offshore. If you’re a surfer yourself or want to learn to be one, there are plenty of options for rentals and lessons.
Tip: If you long for the sleepy Sayulita of yesterday head a few miles north to San Pancho for a glimpse of what Sayulita was about 10 years ago.

You can only reach this unique Mexican beach by boat but it’s easy to catch a water taxi from Playa Medano, Los Cabos’ most popular swimming beach.
The water taxis will often take you past the iconic El Arco so have your camera ready. Another option is to visit Lover’s Beach on an excursion that also includes snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez. Click here for details about that day trip.
Snorkelling and swimming off the beach on the Sea of Cortez side is great but don’t attempt it on the Pacific side as the water can be rough with dangerous undertows.

4. Playa Carrizallilo, Puerto Escondido
Location: Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca State Click here to find it on the map.
Best For: Families, couples, relaxing, swimming, snorkelling, beginner surfing
Amenities: Some food and drink available, surfing rentals and lessons
Long known as a surfers paradise this “Hidden Port”, which is the meaning of Puerto Escondido, offers challenging “breaks” to even the most seasoned surfer.
If big surf is what you’re after then Playa Zicatela may be the best Mexican beach for you.
However, if you’re looking for gentler waters and a quiet piece of paradise to lounge on head to Playa Carrizalillo, Puerto Escondido’s prettiest beach.
You have to descend 167 steps down a cliff but the effort is well worth it and you’ll definitely not question why it’s named one of the best beaches in Mexico.
Once there you’ll find a peaceful place to swim, snorkel and lounge in the sun. It’s also a good place to try surfing for the first time as the waves are small and easier to manage. There is board rental and lessons available also.
Understandably, this idyllic spot is popular with families and couples and is rarely busy due to the location at the bottom of a cliff.
Hotels Near Playa Carrizalillo
There are numerous places to stay in the town of Puerto Escondido. Here are a couple of the best accommodations.
Villas Carizalillo
The villas are sitting on a cliff overlooking the bay of Carizalillo but yet are still very centrally located. There are 12 villas ranging from one, two and three bedrooms each uniquely decorated.

Location: 24 km north of La Paz Click here to find it on the map
Best for: Soft sand, safe swimming, snorkelling, quiet, families, views, nature
Amenities: Kayak and paddleboard rental, umbrellas, some food vendors
Balandra beach is one of the most serene and naturally beautiful beaches in Mexico. It sits on a bay that looks more like a lagoon with shallow, calm water.
It’s a perfect spot for kids and all ages to safely swim, snorkel, and kayak in the clear blue, warm sea and there are lots of little coves and caves to explore.
Being a registered protected area means that the spectacular views of the water, desert mountains, and unique rock formations will never be spoiled and the sea and bird life should remain in abundance.
The remote location and lack of amenities are a blessing that keeps this beach pristine and fairly quiet compared to some other Mexican beaches. A visit here is definitely one of the top things to do around La Paz.

Playa las Gatas is one of the best beaches in Mexico for snorkelling. This is due in part to the breakwater reef which legend says was built by a Tarascan king to create a sheltered place for his daughter to swim.

The beach has soft white sand and lounge chairs for rent and is lined with some simple but good, fresh seafood restaurants making Playa Las Gatas a great place to spend the whole day.

Location: 35 km north of Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa Click here to find it on the map

This lovely beach is still mostly under-the-radar with the exception of surfers and those in search of an eco-tourism making it one of the best beaches in Mexico for a peaceful and secluded experience.
This somewhat secret Mexican beach is three miles long and never crowded so you’ll always be able to find a peaceful spot of your own to watch the surfers and pelicans ride the waves.

Paraiso means “paradise” and this Mexican beach definitely lives up to its name.
It really is the epitome of a tropical paradise with silky-soft white sand, warm turquoise water, palm trees, and a never-ending sea view. It’s not surprising it’s one of the best beaches in Mexico.
Tulum has grown in popularity over the last few years and has lost some of its secluded peaceful vibe, but it’s still easy to venture down the long stretch of sand and find your own quiet spot.
Even in front of the Playa Paraiso Beach Club the feeling is chill compared to beaches in Playa del Carmen and Cancun.

Isla Holbox is no longer a secret but it’s still one of the most perfectly unspoiled, non-commercialized beaches in Mexico and a personal favorite of ours.
The island is small (42 km long and less than 2 km wide) so we’re not going to pick just one beach. Actually, the roads are mainly sand with no cars so it’s like the whole island is a beach!

Jamaica vs. the Bahamas: Which is the Right Vacation Destination for You?
Getting to Jamaica and The Bahamas
Exuma, The Bahamas; Lee Robinson/Unsplash
If you’re coming from the east or southeastern United States, getting to both Jamaica and the Bahamas is a breeze. Both are well-connected to major US airports, but as a considerably larger country in terms of population, Jamaica offers more flight options, making it easier to get to from Europe or South America. But don’t sleep on the Bahamas. Flight times from Miami to Nassau are a scant 45 minutes.
Jamaica: Jamaica is home to three major airports: Norman Manley International Airport just outside of Kingston, Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport, and Ian Fleming International Airport (yep, named after the James Bond author) near Ocho Rios. Most Jamaican visitors fly into either Kingston or Montego Bay, though some smaller commercial aircraft do take passengers straight to Ocho Rios. Montego Bay gets the majority of the tourist flights, owing to its own popularity and its proximity to hotspots such as Negril. From Montego Bay, you can get direct flights not only to the U.S., Canada, and elsewhere in the Caribbean, but also to farther-off destinations, such as Lima and even Moscow. However, many such flights only operate seasonally. If you’d rather skip the big city in favor of sandier climes, flying into Kingston is your best bet if you want to escape the tourist masses and head up to the more chilled-out Port Antonio, home of the oft-photographed Blue Lagoon.
The Bahamas: The main airport in the Bahamas, Lynden Pindling International Airport, is located in its capital city of Nassau on New Providence Island. Regular commercial and charter flights operate from across the Eastern seaboard, and if you’re coming from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or New York, you’ll have ample options to choose from. There are also a number of seasonal flights in operation from spots such as Boston, Montreal, and even Frankfurt in Germany, and BA operates a year-round flight from Heathrow. If you’d rather skip Nassau altogether, you can also fly directly to many smaller airports from the US. Exuma International Airport has year-round flights from Atlanta and Miami, while the Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport offers connections to a number of cities in the Southeast.
Top Hotels in Jamaica and the Bahamas
Hotels in both Jamaica and the Bahamas run the gamut, from budget-friendly properties aimed at the spring break set to timeshares with kitchens to some of the most gorgeous luxury hotels in the Caribbean. However, all-inclusive resorts reign supreme in both destinations.
The Villa 16 at the Round Hill Hotel & Villas/Oyster
Our Jamaica Hotel Picks:
Families rave about Hotel Riu Montego Bay, with its dedicated kids’ club and lots of free watersports. If you’ve got a bit more cash to drop, Round Hill Hotel and Villas, is a swankier alternative with villas designed by Ralph Lauren himself, plus a kids’ club and the option to hire your own private nanny. Though frankly, you may want to leave the kids at home — adults-only hotels in Jamaica are some of the Caribbean’s finest. Options include Excellence Oyster Bay , which offers swank rooms, many with plunge pools or jetted tubs, and Secrets St James Montego Bay, with swim-up rooms and tons of free activities. Couples looking for something a bit more subdued and intimate could consider The Caves, a 12-room boutique property built on a sea-facing cliff.

View from the Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island/Oyster
Our Bahamas Hotel Picks:
Many of the best resorts in the Bahamas are in Nassau or on nearby Paradise Island. Couples looking for an easy, all-inclusive getaway can opt for the tried and tested Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island or opt for a stay at Cable Beach’s Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas (which is only open to guests ages 14 and up). Those looking for an adults-only resort on Paradise Island nearby should consider Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island, which offers all sorts of free water sports and easy access to the casino and entertainment at Atlantis. If you’ve got kids in tow, you’re better off booking a room at The Cove at Atlantis, which offers easy access to Atlantis and its Aquaventure waterpark, but is in a quieter, more secluded stretch of the beach. An excellent alternative for families on Grand Bahama Island, Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach-An All Inclusive Resort offers gorgeous white-sand beaches and tons of family-friendly activities (including trapeze instruction) at mid-range prices.

Beaches in Jamaica and The Bahamas
Both Jamaica and the Bahamas are beach destinations with sparkling and swimmable Caribbean Seas, though each island has its own unique beach flavor.
Beach at the Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa/Oyster
Jamaica Beaches: Jamaica’s beaches are reason alone to visit the island, with plenty of stretches of white sand to plonk down on. Among the most popular include Negril’s Seven-Mile Beach, Montego Bay’s cozy Doctor’s Cave Beach (which has great facilities, including showers), and the cruise tripper-favorite: Turtle Beach in Ocho Rios. For something more subdued, make your way to Port Antonio, where you’ll find quiet beaches such as Frenchman’s Cove, which come with fewer facilities — and tourists.
Beach at the Old Bahama Bay/Oyster
Bahamas Beaches: As a nation of small islands, the Bahamas has a ridiculous amount of beach space to choose from, whether you’re into waves or quiet coves. The most popular include Cable Beach, with its white sands and water so turquoise that they look fake, and pretty Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island, popular for water sports. If you plan to head further out into the island chain, the little island of Bimini offers some amazing sandscapes, particularly on popular Radio Beach, with its calm waters. For something extra Instagramable, head to Big Major Cay in Exuma where you can go swimming with local resident pigs. Though, whether you should visit is subject to some serious ethical concerns.
Activities in Jamaica and The Bahamas
Both Jamaica and the Bahamas offer a good variety of water sports activities, beaches, and nightlife, but if you’re more into cultural activities, Jamaica is the solid winner. Bahamas feels more like a resort island that’s a paradise built for tourists. Jamaica has more people living there, and a proud culture dedicated to historical preservation.
Watersports at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa, a Hilton Resort/Oyster
Jamaica: Jamaica offers a ton of activities, enough to warrant multiple trips. Although many people forego the capital of Kingston altogether, it’s worth a trip if you’re interested in art, history, or reggae music. You can visit Bob Marley’s house and the famous Trenchtown neighborhood, see the works of Jamaican artist Edna Manley at the National Gallery of Jamaica, or immerse yourself in history at the 17th-century Fort Charles. If you’re sticking to the beach areas up north, you can break away for a day trip to the purportedly haunted Rose Hall Great House, visit Bob Marley’s birthplace, take a nighttime boat ride in the Luminous Lagoon, or head up to Dunn’s River Falls for a cooling and adventurous dip.

The Bahamas: Activities in the Bahamas are more centered around beach life, though Nassau does offers some historic attractions. Head up to the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex for great views out over the city (pro-tip: it’s best accessed by climbing up the 66-step Queen’s Staircase). On nearby Paradise Island, you’ll find Atlantis Resort, known for its casino, thrilling Aquaventure waterpark, and endless aquariums.
Weather in Jamaica and The Bahamas
It’s definitely worth taking the weather into consideration when planning a trip to Bahamas or Jamaica. While there’s not a ton of difference in terms of what each of the two Caribbean countries offer, climate-wise, there are a few key differences.
Stuart Cove, Nassau/Oyster
Jamaica: Weather can vary quite a bit in Jamaica, which you’re most likely to notice if you plan to spend time inland or hit up a lot of different destinations on the island. Most coastal areas are in the 70s or 80s throughout the year, though some of the inland, mountainous areas (such as the coffee-growing Blue Mountains) can get way cooler. Rainfall peaks on the island in the summer months and into the autumn, and it’s generally rainiest in October and November.
The Bahamas: The Bahamas offers pleasant weather year round, usually in the high 70s or low 80s (Fahrenheit, of course), though it can get cool at night (bring a sweater). Although the Bahamas doesn’t get tons of storms, tropical cyclones and rainfall are more likely during the summer and early autumn.
Our Top Pick for a Jamaica Hotel: The Caves
The Caves/Oyster
Perhaps the quirkiest hotel in Negril (and we mean that in the best possible way), The Caves offers only 12 rooms and suites, most with ocean views and some with outdoor showers. There’s also a small pool and a staircase that leads down to the sea, but the real highlight here is the chance to sit down to a five-course dinner, served inside intimate dining areas built inside cliffside grottos. And yes, the experience is included in room rates.

The water, which once was underground, was transformed into surreal pools, in grottos, where it is possible to swim in icy waters, exquisite in minerals and greenish-blue. It has the excellent place for a luxurious stay at Akumal Vacation Villa for Rent Mexico, as well. The Cenote Dos Ojos, located near Tulum, is considered one of the best places, where it is even possible to rent equipment and go diving in the lagoons.
